On the night of July 15, two people named Yusuf Çelik were martyred. Both followed the Prophet Joseph (Yusuf) in integrity, and walked the path of martyrdom invincibly like steel (Çelik). Their age and hometowns were different, but it was the same feeling that took them out that night.
Yusuf Çelik, originally from Çankırı, was working at the marketing department of a private company. Çelik, who rushed through streets as soon as he heard about the coup attempt, didn’t even take his phone. One of those, who made it to the General Staff building, where FETÖ members aimed to occupy, Yusuf Çelik pushed himself in front of the tanks without hesitation.
Martyred by the vicious putschists, Yusuf Çelik’s family didn’t hear from him for two days. His car was found around General Staff. On Sunday, July 17th, his death was confirmed at the Forensic Medicine Institution.

The family, who saw the photo of Çelik lying down in front of the tanks in the entrance of the General Staff building in the book “FETÖ’s Coup Attempt Minute by Minute”, reached the journalist who took the photo. Anadolu Agency journalist İzgi, who took the last photo of Yusuf Çelik before he was martyred, shared the story of what happened. The family listened to the story of their child, who was martyred upon the putschist’s gunfire, in tears.
Father of three, Yusuf Çelik was buried in Çankırı, and his name was given to a Counseling and Research Center.
