Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım addressed thousands of people who protested the coup attempt in front of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and called on them to gather in Kızılay. In response to people’s slogans about capital punishment for coup plotters, Prime Minister Yıldırım said, “We have received your message and we will do the necessary.”

In response to the people who gathered in front of the Turkish National Grand Assembly shouting, “We want the death sentence [to be brought back],” Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım responded, “I have received your message. Whatever is necessary will be done. These marauders underestimated the Turkish nation. They are the scum who sold their minds to the one on the other side of the ocean [Fetullah Gülen].”

A statement by the Presidency revealed that a total of 265 people, including 161 civilians, died during the coup attempt which started last night and continued until the early morning hours.
