The Ministry of Interior announced that a total of 336 Fetullah Terror Organization (FETÖ) members had been detained. Also, a total of 29 FETÖ-affiliated colonels and five generals, who had been involved in the coup attempt, were discharged by the Minister of the Interior Efkan Ala at 07.50 a.m.

Armed clashes arose in front of the 2nd Army Command, which had been seized by FETÖ-linked soldiers. Putschist soldiers pulled guns on Malatya Governor Mustafa Toprak and Malatya Police Chief Ömer Urhal at the main entrance when they came to the 2nd Army Command Headquarters.

The Malatya Metropolitan Municipality dug trenches in front of the military unit with municipal vehicles in order to immobilize coup plotters and prevent them from going out from the headquarters. The subsequent operations lasted for 20 hours and a putschist major from the 2nd Army died and seven others were injured.

A total of eight military transport aircrafts which unlawfully took off from the 12th Air Main Base Transportation Command in Erkilet, Kayseri landed at the 7th Main Jet Base Command in Erhaç, Malatya. Two Airbus A400M and six C-130 military transport aircrafts carried 39 high-ranking military officers, aircraft technicians, musketeer sergeants and ammunition. This team would initiate the second wave of the coup attempt by loading bombs and missiles into the F-4E 2020 fighter planes at the Malatya Base Command.

Malatya Governorate and Malatya Police Department authorities instructed the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting team, after eight military transport aircrafts from Kayseri unlawfully landed in Erhaç, Malatya. The Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting team started their vehicles and closed the ways leading to the runway. Although putschist soldiers pulled guns, the team did not pull the vehicles and prevented the takeoff of aircrafts.

One of the places that supported the coup on July 15 was the Erkilet Base in Kayseri. 39 high-ranking Officers, Aircraft Technicians and Non-commissioned Officers who let 8 military transport aircraft fly from the 12th Air Lift Bases/Erkilet on the night of the military coup attempt and aimed to launch the second wave of the coup were taken into custody.
