Ahmet Oruç was on duty at the Ankara Gölbaşı Special Operations Department on the night of the July 15th coup attempt. He was martyred alongside his brother Mehmet, by the traitorous putchists’ bomb attack.
Ahmet previously worked in Adana with his twin brother, who he was also classmates with. After Adana, he started his duty at the Riot Police Branch Office in Ankara. Ahmet had been receiving training at the Special Operations Department in Gölbaşı, to become a helicopter pilot. Ahmet was married and became a father two months after his martyrdom.
The identities of the two police officers, were detected through their guns, which had serial numbers on them. The bodies of the two martyred brothers, were brought to Adana overland. The martyrs had an older brother, a specialized sergeant, Mustafa Oruç, who shed tears next to both their coffins.
Ahmet and Mehmet had both been police officers for 3 years. They were both buried in their hometown of Adana.
Martyr Ahmet Oruç’s name was given to a primary school in Karşıyaka, İzmir and the names of both Martyr Ahmet Oruç and Martyr Mehmet Oruç were given to a sports school in their hometown, Adana.
