After receiving 4 years of treatment for colon cancer, Mucip Arıgan had been restored his health, six months prior to being martyred in front of the General Staff building, on the night of the malicious July 15th coup attempt.
Going out on the call of President Erdoğan on the night of July 15th, Mucip initially went to Kızılay at 01.00 am. Speaking with a neighbor on the phone, he reported that there were serious disputes in Kızılay and that many of the citizens were resisting outside, so he set off to the General Staff building to participate. He told his neighbor about tanks running over people and that they were being injured by the rakes from helicopters, and then bombing sounds came in and the phone cut off.
Mucip’s mother Saliha Arıgan, went out after hearing bombs at 03:00 am and started searching hospitals. The family was eventually informed about his martyrdom when they arrived at the Forensic Medicine Facility.
Beating colon cancer treatment and receiving a certificate of good health only 6 months prior to being martyred, Mucip would say, ‘now is the time to live.’ Unfortunately, at 32 years of age, Mucip was martyred by a bomb dropped by the putschists.
The name Martyr Mucip Arıgan was given to a middle school in Altındağ, Ankara.
