Burak Cantürk took the police school entrance exams but was hindered by Gülenists as he didn’t go to FETÖ’s courses. He was 22 years old, his dreams of becoming a police officer were intervened, when he died as a martyr from Gülenist troops’ gunshots in Çengelköy on the night of July 15th.
Originally from Erzincan, Burak was a 3rd grade student at the Department of Business Administration at Balıkesir University. He went from his house at Çengelköy with his father and younger brother to resist putschist troops on the night of July 15th.
Marching towards the streets without thinking, he was shot in the back with a single bullet after gunshots were fired by the traitor troops. Witnessing his son’s martyrdom, Burak’s father and brother heard Burak screaming, “God!” for the last time.
“If I die, I will be a martyr, I will be draped in the Turkish Flag...”
Burak’s father Elyasa, noted that his son always wanted to become a police officer, when he asked his son why he wanted to become a police officer so much, he responded, “If I die, I will be a martyr, I will be draped in the Turkish Flag...”
Burak’s friends at work made a memorial corner with his pictures to always keep his memories fresh. 22-year-old Burak Cantürk was working as a waiter at a restaurant during the summers to provide for his education. The restauraunt owner and his fellow employees said, “We will never forget what he has done for his country.”
The name Martyr Burak Cantürk was given to a multi-program high school in Kartal, İstanbul.
