Türkiye has removed its advertising ban on X after the social media giant appointed a representative in the country.
After X, formerly Twitter, fulfilled its obligation to designate and notify a representative in Türkiye, the ban was removed, the country's Official Gazette said Friday.
Türkiye, in 2021, implemented a new social media law, under which social media platforms that are accessed over a million times per day are required to appoint local representatives.
If they failed to do so, they were liable for various penalties, including monetary fines, advertising ban and bandwidth reduction.
Türkiye imposed advertising bans on X after the social media giant failed to appoint local representatives in Türkiye in July 2023.
