Gen. Ori Gordin returned to duty after hospitalization, army says
The Israeli army said Friday that the head of the Northern Command sustained injuries when his vehicle overturned during "an operational tour" in southern Lebanon, as the army continues attempts to advance into Lebanese territory.
The army said Gen. Ori Gordin was injured lightly in the accident and returned to duty after being hospitalized.
It added that the army's Central Command head, Gen. Avi Blot, was in the vehicle, but was not hurt.
On Oct. 1, the Israeli army announced starting a military ground operation in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah.
Israel has mounted a huge air campaign in Lebanon since late last month against what it claims are targets of the Lebanese resistance group, in an escalation from a year of cross-border warfare since the start of Tel Aviv's onslaught against the Gaza Strip.
