Demonstrators wave Palestinian, Yemeni flags, hold signs condemning Israel's actions, such as burning hospitals in Gaza, prisoners' torture

Hundreds of students and academics from Sana'a University in Yemen on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration to denounce Israel's continued genocidal attacks on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

According to an Anadolu reporter, the protest was organized by the Houthi group and held under the slogan “With Gaza and our faithful identity despite Zionist aggression and global silence.”

The demonstration coincided with the first day of the new year. Protesters, including hundreds of students and academics, voiced their condemnation of the ongoing Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza.

Demonstrators waved Palestinian and Yemeni flags and held signs condemning Israel's actions, such as the burning of hospitals in Gaza and the torture of prisoners.

A statement issued by the event's organizers emphasized Yemen's unwavering support for the Palestinian people, affirming that this position will remain unchanged regardless of the challenges ahead.

The statement also called on the international community and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in addressing the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing of Gaza's population by Israeli forces.

The Israeli army has continued a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed over 45,550 victims, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
