The World Weightlifting Championships will start on Thursday in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
Turkey will take part in the competition with 17 weightlifters -- 10 women, 7 men.
"Our expectation from the world championships is low but we will gain more experiences with this organization to claim medals in 2020 Tokyo Olympics," Tamer Taspinar, the chairman of the Turkey Weightlifting Federation, told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.
The championships will run through Nov. 10.
