Outages will hinder civil defense and ambulance services, says Palestinian official

The Palestinian telecommunications chief on Friday warned of the interruption of phone and internet services in the war-torn Gaza Strip due to fuel shortages.Abdul Razzaq Al-Natsheh said that phone and internet services in Gaza will be affected starting Friday evening due to fuel shortages. He said several areas in central and southern Gaza will see interruptions in telecommunications services which may extend to other areas if the fuel crisis continues. He added that northern Gaza has already experienced complete telecommunications interruption for around 100 days due to the Israeli ban on fuel entering the region.“Israel's obstruction of fuel convoys worsens the crisis for relief, health, and service institutions reliant on allocated fuel supplies,” Al-Natsheh also said, adding that such interruption will hinder the work of civil defense and ambulance services. The Israeli army has continued a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed more than 46,000 people, most of them women and children, since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
