In phone call with Azerbaijani counterpart Aliyev, President Erdogan says Türkiye will continue to support Syrian people for establishment of lasting stability

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday discussed the latest developments in Syria, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said.

In a phone call, Erdogan and Aliyev also discussed regional and global issues.

Erdogan stated that Türkiye will continue to support the Syrian people for the establishment of lasting stability in their country.

For his part, Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the new situation in Syria.

Bashar al-Assad, Syria's leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia after anti-regime groups took control of Damascus early Sunday, ending the Baath Party rule, which had been in power in Syria since 1963.
