Athens seeks to improve cooperation with Saudi Arabia in all domains, adds Kyriakos Mitsotakis

The security of Europe and the Middle East are interdependent, said Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday.

Mitsotakis, co-chairing a meeting of the Greek-Saudi Supreme Cooperation Council in the northern Saudi city of Al-Ula along with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, said, according to a statement by his office: “Saudi Arabia is a strategic partner for Greece and the EU and a key player for stability and prosperity in the entire region.”

Noting regional and global challenges, he argued that improved bilateral relations would contribute to peace and security in the region.

Mitsotakis focused particularly on prospects for cooperation in energy, as well as trade and investment in sectors such as shipping, agri-food products, and the construction sector, according to the statement.

In one-on-one talks after the council meeting, Salman and Mitsotakis also discussed the latest developments in Gaza and Syria.
