Wesley Sneijder's 70th-minute goal was sufficient for Galatasaray AS to defeat Eskisehirspor and claim the Turkish Cup for a record 15th time
Turkey's Galatasaray claimed its 15th Turkish Cup title by defeating Eskisehirspor 1-0 at Ataturk Stadium in the central city of Konya on Wednesday night.
The Istanbul team's Dutch trequartista Wesley Sneijder's critical goal in the 70th minute brought the victory to 'the Lions.'
Eskisehirspor pushed hard for an equaliser as the clock ticked down, but could not managed to have the game go to extra-time.
Galatasaray is the most-time winner of the trophy which is currently known as 'Ziraat Turkish Cup' for sponsorship reasons.
In the semi-finals, Galatasaray knocked out Bursaspor, whereas Eskisehirspor defeated Medical Park Antalyaspor.
The domestic cup victory is expected to be a relief for Galatasaray, as the team fell behind the league title race after its main city rival, Fenerbahce.
