'I want to go back to being who I was before taking on this job,' former NBA star says after team fails to make playoffs
After two years at the helm, Magic Johnson is leaving the leadership of the Los Angeles Lakers.
He announced his surprise resignation as Lakers’ president of basketball operations on Tuesday night.
“I want to go back to having fun,” Johnson, a Lakers point guard for 13 seasons, told reporters.
“I want to go back to being who I was before taking on this job," he added.
The Lakers failed to make the playoffs this season, its sixth losing season in a row.
