Opening match of the season will see Malaga take on Basque side Athletic Bilbao

Spain's new La Liga season will kick off on Saturday with Malaga taking on Basque side Athletic Bilbao tomorrow at 19:00 CET.

Last season's Spanish Super Cup champions Barcelona, who have gone through wholesale changes ahead of the new season - including signing controversial Uruguayan star forward Luis Suarez this summer - meet Elche on Sunday at the Nou Camp.

Having enhanced their squad by signing many World Cup stars including German midfielder Toni Kroos, Colombian attacking midfielder James Rodrgiuez and Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, Real Madrid host Cordoba on Monday at Santiago Bernabeu at 20:00 CET.

Reigning league champions Atletico Madrid, who lost many remarkable players this summer including Spanish forward Diego Costa will travel to play Rayo Vallecano on Monday at 22:00 CET. Atletico lost David Villa, Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis, attacking midfielder Diego Ribas, Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois over the summer but have signed several significant players such as Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic and French winger Antoine Griezmann.
