Team beats AC Milan 1-0 for record eighth Italian Super Cup victory

Juventus beat AC Milan 1-0 late Wednesday to claim a record eighth Italian Super Cup in a match played in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

The team claimed the trophy after its Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only goal of the match in the 61st minute at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium.

Milan was down to 10 men after Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie was sent off in the 74th minute.

"I'm delighted not just to have scored but also to have won my first trophy with Juventus. It's a good start to 2019, and this is something I really wanted. I'm happy. We have to keep it up now as we have lots more targets to achieve," Ronaldo said.

“I dedicate the goal to the team, my family, friends and everyone around the world who loves Juve and loves Cristiano."

Juve last claimed the title in 2015.
