Latvia defeat Turkey 89-79

Turkish national basketball team lost to Latvia 89-79 Thursday in the EuroBasket 2017 Group C match at the Istanbul Ulker Sports Arena.

Already qualified for the Round of 16, Turkey needed to beat Latvia to finish in third place, to avoid facing undefeated Spain.

However, Latvia, under the leadership of New York Knicks player Kristaps Porzingis who scored 28, proved too much for a young Turkish team.

Serbia finished Group C in first place, Latvia second, and Russia third to advance. Great Britain and Belgium were both eliminated.

Turkey will face Spain on Sunday at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul. The match will start at 6.45 p.m. (1545GMT).
