Sixty Mossad agents came to Ankara to assess security for basketball match between Turkey and Israel
Turkey's national women's basketball team will hold its first match for EuroBasket Women 2017 with Israel. For the match, which will be played today at 8 pm in Ankara Coliseum, high security measures were taken.
Israel women's national basketball team came to Ankara yesterday night with 60 Mossad agents. Before the players went to their accommodations, agents searched their rooms and hotels. The agents also will be in the coliseum during the match.
In addition, 100 Turkish security personnel are deployed inside and outside the hotel in order to guarantee the security of Israeli players.
A meeting hold with participation of Security General Directorate, Police Sport Department, the Ministry of Youth and Sport and Israeli authorities before players came to Turkey.
At the request of Israeli authorities, 1,500 security staff will be on duty inside and outside the coliseum during the game and 500 security staff will be ready for any emergency. Three hundred and fifty private security guards will also provide protection in the coliseum. In addition, 200 personnel will accompany the Israeli team during their travelling.
The draw for the EuroBasket Women 2017 Qualifiers concluded in Munich, Germany on July 4. Turkey was drawn in Group H together with Romania, Israel and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The nine Group winners and six best second-placed teams will advance to EuroBasket Women 2017 in Czech Republic.
