Barcelona receives transfer ban
FIFA sanctioned Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona for breaching transfer regulations on minors
FIFA announces the sanctioning of Barcelona, one of Spain's leading football clubs, for breaching transfer regulations on players under the age of 18 on Wednesday.
On FIFA's official website, FIFA's Discipline Committee declared that the ban for Catalan club Barcelona will last for 14 months, resulting in Barca not being able to buy or sell any player until the summer of 2015. In addition, FIFA fined the La Liga giants 305,000 British pounds ($508,000).
In addition FIFA imposed a fine of 340,000 British pounds ($566,000) to the Spanish Football Federation for the same reason. They also requested that the Federation adapt their regulations on transfers of players under age of 18 to be in line with FIFA's.
