The first test of the Homeland Party, founded by Muharrem İnce, who thought that there was no chance of candidacy within the CHP and therefore decided to establish a new party, will be the elections on May 14th. İnce ran for the leadership of the Republican People's Party twice but was not elected. In the elections held on June 24, 2018, İnce was declared as the presidential candidate by unanimous vote of the Republican People's Party Parliamentary Group. İnce, who came second with 30.67 percent of the vote in the elections, turned his political movement, which he announced on September 4, 2020, as an alternative to his former party, into the Homeland Party after losing the leadership contest in the CHP. Muharrem İnce became the Founding Chairman of the Homeland Party on May 18, 2021. On September 18, 2021, he was elected as the Chairman of the Homeland Party by its members. Muharrem İnce, the Chairman of the Homeland Party, who wanted to run for president in the election on May 14th and collected signatures, announced his candidacy after completing 100,000 votes. After announcing his candidacy, Muharrem İnce, who was accused of splitting the votes of the opposition, became a target on social media.
