A Roe deer, Anatolia's smallest deer species, is seen as they are under protection due to their critically endangered populations, in the highlands of Türkiye's northern Rize province. They live in mountains or forested areas throughout the Marmara region and in certain parts of the Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia regions. Roe deer can also be seen in large and dense forest borders and plateaus in the northern regions of the Black Sea.
