Whether we like it or not, a world order is taking shape outside the U.S. and Europe. This quest for this new order is quite determined to end the West’s centuries-long uninterrupted superiority.
Whether you choose to believe it or not, Turkey is positioned right at the center of this new world. The intersection points of the disintegration between the East and West are always areas of conflict. But Turkey built exactly the opposite, and formed an incredible power domain between the East and West.
The geopolitical power formation Turkey has been continuing at a mind blowing pace in the Middle East, Central Asia, as well as in North and Central Africa, made a strong impression through the Russia-Ukraine negotiations held at Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul.
Turkey was the only state that had something to say, that was able to produce a solution in the crisis, which crippled the U.S., Europe, the EU, and all Western institutions. Turkey was the only state that could pave the way to both the West and the East.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s personal presence in the negotiation hall, his speech to the committee, stating, “the world is waiting for you to deliver good news,” was a spectacular “peace intervention.”
If “Turkey’s initiative” proves successful and leads to an outcome, beyond stopping the Ukraine war, Erdoğan and Turkey would also stop escalations that could possibly lead to a new world war, in which even nuclear attacks are likely to be used.
There are more significant matters requiring discussion over the Ukraine war. There is a brand new picture in which Turkey appears as the rising star. The world has a future. The old world, the Western world is decaying.
A large portion of the earth, the overwhelming majority of the world population are abandoning the U.S. and Europe. The U.S. is making “peevish but insecure” outbursts, while Europe is in a state of cowardice and fear for the first time.
Therefore, discussing both Turkey and the world's future has become a new topic of discussion. Anything outside this is old news. All countries, all political movements that are still hanging onto the old routes will come to an end.
Western globalization is already over. Reputation and trust are long gone. Tyrannical military force and economical plundering, brute diplomatic pressure, the despicable understanding of invasion and aggression will not be enough to prolong the Western order. We have already seen this.
The “world-scale” isolation the U.S. launched against Russia in reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, provoking Europe’s fears, the plan to collapse Russia have all failed.
China, Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Gulf countries, among numerous other countries desisted from participating in these fatal sanctions. Every country opposed Ukraine's invasion, but they knew that this war was provoked by the U.S. and Europe.
Most importantly, despite being allies, these countries did not put their trust and faith in the U.S., they became aware that cooperation with it now poses a threat, and would signify on missing out on the new world.
The U.S. was backed by almost the whole world in the 1991 Gulf War. It was supported by its close allies in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, while the majority of the world opposed this move.
This time, however, the war is not in “other countries,” in “Muslim territories,” but on European borders. The “world’s center” is under threat. This time they are the ones seeking help.
But U.S. efforts to stir the world failed to produce the desired outcome. In fact, some European countries are even hesitant about cooperating with the U.S.
International institutes, organizations, and systems established by the West are losing their influence. They are perceived as existential threats by the overwhelming majority of the world.
The “new financial system” objections growing since the 2008 economic crisis have reached the boiling point. The economic embargo on Russia expedited the pursuit for a non-dollar financial system, which has been continuing all along on the Russia-China axis.
Russia announced that it will now be selling natural gas to Europe with rubles. China and Russia started new trade deals that will exclude the dollar. India and Russia reached an agreement to make fuel oil and natural gas sales using local currencies.
Russia made the same deal with Saudi Arabia as well. Turkey has been making deals with certain countries for some time now in relation to doing trade with their own currencies. Using the dollar as a weapon, the U.S. paved the way for the world’s escape from the dollar. The world is running from the U.S. dollar, from U.S. and European markets. Trillions of dollars are making their way towards different economic markets, different currencies.
Western countries seized half of Russia’s reserves amounting to about $650 billion. They literally plundered them. This served as an example, and now everyone is panicking that their assets in the U.S. and Europe will be the first to get seized.
Turkey’s outburst presented itself to these countries as a reliable destination.
It is assumed that a significant portion of this will flow into Turkey. For example, this is currently the case with Russian and Gulf funds. Thus, it is said that “this may cause shocking drops in Turkey’s dollar exchange rate.”
The Ukrainian crisis revealed a covert war taking place. The military, security, diplomatic, and economic fight has now become an overt war. We are presented with a much greater reality than the war in Ukraine.
All sorts of disintegrations, systemic, structural, whatever comes to mind, and in every field, and the search for a new order have been revealed. A large portion of the world is distancing itself from the West in all of these fields.
Turkey stood out in every single one of these fields without exception. It became the “winning country” in every field. Every step it takes, every statement it makes leads to shocking effects.
None of this existed when I used to state in my columns that ”Turkey may change the world’s axis.” This axis is now changing. Turkey is the one changing it!
U.S. President Joe Biden’s statement, “a new order will be established” is not about their own project. This is an effort to compensate, but it’s too late. The U.S. has been talking about a “new world order” since the 1990s. Today, it is trying to keep pace for the first time with a world order that is forming outside itself.
This is the global wave’s open declaration that the fate of the “Western order,” the “dollar order” is slipping out of the U.S. and Europe’s control. The West’s centuries-long sovereignty has ended. It is no longer an order-builder, but a mere bloc.
New interpretations, new statements are required. The doors to the future need to be opened. The countries that do this will rise. Turkey is becoming a star country because it ticks all these boxes. While all countries are taking shelter behind their own shields, Turkey is roaming continents.
The world we know is reaching its expiry date. The former power structures are changing. Great powers are losing their privileges. Other countries are waking up, leading to the end of colonial states’ wealth and sovereignty.
Nations that have imperial histories are making a comeback with new claims. An era of surprising rises, shocking collapses is commencing. We will see a different world map, power map in the very near future.
Turkey is preparing for this in all fields. From now on, we are going to witness the surprises of the “star country.”
Turkey boasts a centuries-old political mind. Those who put their trust in Turkey will triumph.
