Most sought-after, challenging to recruit, and expected to rise occupations in Türkiye

In an economy, the sufficient vocational and technical knowledge and work experience sought by employers are important qualifications for employment.

In this regard, the 2023 Labor Market Survey Report, conducted by the Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR), has been published.

This research reveals significant results regarding the structural characteristics of workplaces, the number of employees, job vacancies, occupations in which employers face difficulty in recruitment, and occupations expected to see an increase in employment.

So, what were the most sought-after occupations in Türkiye, the occupations in which recruitment was challenging, and the occupations expected to see an increase in employment?

MOST SOUGHT-AFTER OCCUPATIONS

According to the Labor Market Survey, the most sought-after occupations by employers are sewing machine operator, waiter, sales consultant, wooden furniture manufacturing master, cleaner, submerged arc welder, garment worker, fuel salesperson, arc welder, and truck driver, which are the top 10.

The most sought-after qualification by employers in these occupations is adequate vocational and technical knowledge and work experience.

OCCUPATIONS WITH RECRUITMENT CHALLENGES

The survey identifies the top 10 occupations in which recruitment is most challenging as sewing machine operator, waiter, wooden furniture manufacturing master, submerged arc welder, construction worker, sales consultant, truck-trailer driver, truck driver, fuel salesperson, and steel welder.

The main reasons for recruitment challenges in these occupations include insufficient job applications, inability to find employees with the required vocational skills/qualifications, and inability to find employees with sufficient work experience.

OCCUPATIONS WITH THE MOST EXPECTED EMPLOYMENT INCREASE

Looking at the occupations expected to see the most increase in employment according to the 2023 Labor Market Survey, we find waiter, courier, sales consultant, sewing machine operator, construction worker, wooden furniture manufacturing master, arc welder, truck driver, garment worker, and network technologies as prominent occupations.

These highlighted occupations are in demand in many countries around the world.

Therefore, ensuring the availability of qualified workforce required for the economy will not only lead to an increase in employment but also contribute significantly to the country's economy. Additionally, this research will be decisive in determining new strategies and policies for training the workforce in line with future expectations and directing the workforce to the required areas.
